Spell Characteristics If youÆve played the AD&D game for any amount of time, you are already quite
familiar with a number of spell characteristics such as range, duration, area of
effect, and other such attributes. Some characteristics are fixed values,
while others may vary with the casterÆs level. PlayerÆs Option: Spells & Magic introduces the new characteristics of casting subtlety and sensory signature , which describe the obviousness of a spellÆs casting or effects.
In addition to perception characteristics, weÆll also take a look at spells
that may create knockdowns (a concept from the PlayerÆs Option: Combat & Tactics book), as well as spells that require attack rolls on the part of the caster.
